*Wind….*

I kept taking grocery stuff off the shelves at NTUC today and only realized I overdid it when I got the bill. Haha.

But well, it IS pay day and I can’t afford much for my family. So, decided to just treat my mum to some groceries and bought some pizza ingredients for my sisters to experiment for themselves. Been bugging me to get pizza for them, well, why not make their own? Heh.

As for me, I’m gonna have my second attempt at lasagne for Dy.

So, like yesterday was a good day.

I guess, all it needed was a kickstart on the first day. On Sunday, I was dreading that Monday was gonna come, but as soon as the day started, saw the faces I missed, and by the time I know it, the day ended.

And now, I’m at home on a Tuesday.

Well, my gastritis decided to come back again giving me a double whammy - meaning, it decided to appear and tag-team with that certain kind of incredulous pain I get at that certain time of the month.

Kinda feel bad since I kept reminding my kids about remedial and then I ended up not coming. But then again, it’s not that I’m doing this on purpose and it’s not like my workplace is 5 minutes walk from home.

Ah well, shall rest well today, get past tomorrow and Thursday(gulps!) and by then, the first week of Term 4, is over. No, I didn’t skip Friday on purpose. Friday’s just P/S/L/E LC.

Looking forward to Ramadhan! Yippee!

And now time to eat my medicine.

*10 mins….*

By Freek at 11:55 pm on Friday, September 8, 2006

In 10 mins, it will be Saturday.

After Saturday is Sunday.

After Sunday, it’ll be another 10 weeks of work.

Not complaining. In fact, I kinda miss my kids.

Just that, with 3 days burned, didn’t really get to rest. Well, learnt my lesson – Never take courses on 1 week holidays!

I am still in the state of disbelief.

He’s dead.

Sigh.

*Hmmm….*

Went back to N-to-the-I-E today. Met a good friend while having my break. Catching up was funny. Heh.

I’m actually still quite shocked that the C.roc guy has passed on.

I am quite a fan of his C.roc F.iles series. Watching the shows let me learn and fascinate about wildlife since he had an entertaining way of explaining things. That energy, passion and flair he has for animals are somethings I admire about him.
His antics will be missed.

Sigh.

*Pening…*

By Freek at 11:36 pm on Sunday, September 3, 2006

Sepatutnya, aku dah tidur dari tadi.

Sebab, semalam aku dok potong berbiji-biji timun dan bawang. Hari ni plak, satu hari aku lari sini sana nak tambah nasi, dalca, acar, air, gelas time rewang. Time tutup majlis kul 5, aku dah tak larat lagi dah, dah duduk. Yang beshnya, dapatlah sikit duit upah. Buat top-up card.
Tapi, herannya, aku masih belum nak tidur. Walhal, tadi dah berat gila klopak mata ni, beb.

Sebenarnya, time aku amik course tu pun, sebab venue dia kat redhill je. Sekali bleh dia tukar gi kat NIE nun jauh di sana. Ni semua bikin kacau.. macam nak kena tembak. Nang bo tinang.
Sigh.

Tapi, kalau pikir-pikir, lepas aku langkah balak 3 hari tu, aku dapatlah jumpa kengkawan kampung aku tu. Joyah, Bedah, Limah, Pe’ah, Eton. Ntah anak Pak Abbas, Meenatchi, Petom dengan Esah ikut ke tak. Biasanya tak tapi best jugak kalau diorang ikut sebab dah lama tak nampak bulu hidung.
Aku? Ahh.. kalau belum tahu lagi, aku dinamakan “Semah”. “S+e=Se”, tau? Bukan “S+e=Say”. Hehe… *winks*

Excitednya nak jumpa kengkawan.

Lagi excited jugak sebab Sabtu ni, Dy tak kerja. Hurrah! Beshnya!
Tapi bila dah fikir pasal Sabtu, dah terfikir pulak lagi 2 hari lepas tu, dah Isnin.

..

.

Nak dekat start skolah lagiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii…………………….

*uweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk*

Tapi aku rindu murid-murid aku.

Hmm.. ntah aku yang pening ke.. atau korang yang pening layan cerita aku ni.

Ahh.. santai suah!

*Happy Chekgoo Day….*

By Freek at 5:53 pm on Friday, September 1, 2006

Well, on Wednesday, I reckoned that my P would be putting something on workstations as part of our t-chers’ day surprise. So… I did a bit of cleaning up and yeaps. What? Don’t believe me? Well, this was my work area before cleaning.

*lol*

Well, sorry it scared ‘ya. I was scared, too. I couldn’t see my table and I felt like there was no floor beneath me. But since the ML Dept activity’s done and over with for the year, I’m happy to report that my desk and it’s bottom, has been cleared. *lol*

Aight, so yesterday was t-chers’ day celebrations. Had a concert and it was kinda cool. The best part was being paraded out of the hall to a tea-break after the concert. The emcee introduced each t-cher doing the ‘runway’ style walk and when my name was called, I was overwhelmed at the response. Especially my P1s. They stood up and cheered for me like no other with shining smiles on their faces. It was, touching.

And so, here are some of the things I received.

What’s t-chers’ day for female t-chers without roses? Fake and real?

This was the most touching flower. Given by my 7 year old who came running across the corridor shouting my name just to give me this. Heh. Aww… And as for this one, was given to me by a girl I’ve never even taught before. Hmm.. hehe..

Was thinking of giving my kids personalised muffins for c-drens’ day, but these kids beat me to it. Hmmm… but these are really yummy CHOCOLATE muffins. MmmMM..slurp…

Selendang. A very thoughtful gift.

The most important things a t-cher has to do, is drink. Drinking is important since, well, we basically use our voice to help children make sense of things. So, yeaps, I received 2 mugs (the one with the cat was given by P) and 1 tumbler.

Insyallah.

Penyabar? Hehe.. that’s one trait I’ve been trying to work for. Ehem..

But yeah, sometimes, the best of gifts are those which do not require money. For example I was overwhelmed when kids, both I teach and I don’t, came up to me and wished me Happy Teachers’ Day. I mean, some kids appreciate you but do not have the means to show that through gifts. To share with you a funny story, there’s this Mongolian boy who gave a simple card to one of the male teachers who sat beside me. He didn’t really understand English but since he liked the white with silver flowered card, he decided to buy it.

Alas, when the male teacher received it, he showed it to me, and I laughed my head off. It was a card which said “Condolences for the loss of a loved one”. Heheh… when probed, the boy said he liked the design but later his friends said it was a ‘congratulation for wedding’ card. When I told him the real meaning, he blushed so hard but the male teacher and I told him, the important thing was the well-wishes he wrote in the card. Poor boy, innocently-erred, but unconditionally thoughtful.

And for me, I don’t need gifts to tell me that my kids and friends appreciate me. When they confide in me with their problems. When they greet you with a smile everyday. When my kids practice what I’ve taught them, it’s the best way they can tell them that I’ve made a difference to their life. That’s the best gift for me as a teacher.

To all teachers out there,
